The Portal

Game Description:

You love walking through the woods. You take the same path every day. Today is different, though.  As you approach the clearing that's before the path turns to the left, you notice something different. A blue swirling portal. Is it real? Or are you just imagining things again?

Warning: This game does include gore, violence, mental illness, and kidnapping. Also, please be aware that mental illness is heavily fictionalized and exaggerated in this story and not accurate to real life. 

Game Design and Development Process:

First, I brainstormed some ideas for interactive stories. This game is a combination of two ideas - a portal in the woods and  finding out you're a "zombie." Some other ideas I had were being alone in a spaceship and picking one store vs another - the outcome of which is more drastic than it might seem. I then started to map out the story with what locations and interactions I wanted. After the map was set, I went through and wrote the story, playtesting as I went to make sure I fixed as many bugs as I could before there was a ton to work through.  After the story was all set, I had other people playtest so I could fix anything they noticed and implement some ideas they had. Finally, I created several photos so I could add them to some of the pages.
